Nicer way to display OD/DD errors?

Generally speaking, is there a nicer way to capture and then display the OD/DD errors? My users are knowledgeable and need more detail than what the several status codes that iwodstart.ipl returns. The crappiest thing I could do, although this would work, is scrape the log file relative to the deployment that I'm doing and do a regex to capture the log entries that relate to any error that had occured. I'm looking for something cleaner and more reliable, however.

In general - the status return code (I recommend using iwodcmd start over iwodstart.ipl) and the output that is sent to STDOUT/STDERR is the simplest, but not always overly informative. Parsing the logfile is, I believe, the only way to extract detailed information at this time.
