Teamsite templating viability for large Intranet

A general question about the scalability of TeamSite for use on an Intranet.

Is anybody using TS templating for 95% of their content or do they use another tool (FP, DW) as well to allow their authors to contribute content and templating for the consistent content (News, PR, etc).?

Hi toomster,

You shouldn't use FrontPage or DreamWeaver to contribute content. Those kinds of tools are ideal for contributing unique presentation of some specific content.

If you have some "consistent content" like News or Press Releases, set up the template and presentation once, and then train your organization to ALWAYS use that template. That way, you get the same look & feel everytime.

Does that make sense?

That is what I had assumed, my only query is the fact the VF is a bit flakey and Templating not very WYSIWYG. IF there is an issue with it, the feedback I have is that IW push you to the creators of the VF tool.

We've been using Teamsite with our corp intranet for the past 2 years now. In the past we had our content contributors take a crash course in HTML, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. The results have been mixed to say the least. We've just started rolling out TS Templating the last few months and are hoping to completely phase out the Dreamweaver approach in the future. The great thing about TS templates are that it is relatively user-friendly and helps your intranet remain consistent with the company's branding. Plus, you spend less time fixing poorly written HTML code.
