OD timestamp is wrong after upgrading the OS
CRB
HI,
we upgraded some of our servers from windows 2k to windows 2k3... after the OS upgrade the log files from OD receivers are showing wrong time stamp... example:
time usually shows as 11.11 GMT -06.00 which is 11.11 MST but now, the log shows 17.11 GMT +00:00
iknow that OD uses GMT for directory comparaision deployment, but it usually stamps the logs with local time...
how can we fix the time issue in OD 6.1 after upgrading the OS? do you think running tzupdater on them could fix the issue?

Did you apply any DST patches for the Windows 2003 OS?
Also, have you tried running the simple java test program in the link below.
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6471271
I ran that simple java file from every location on the server that had java.exe and was able to find every location that I needed to run the tzupdater and use it to verify that the updater had worked.

Did you also run Sun's tzupdater tool? OD's JRE also needs to be patched to accomodate the new DST policy.

thanks for the inpuy, my concern here is more than just the new Daylight saving... i havent applied the tzupdater to the OD receiver because of many things to do, i will apply the TZupdater to OD receiver very soon when we get to it...
but this server is in MST time zone, which shows in the log files as GMT -06.00... so without the tzupdater the log files should be off by one hour which should show GMT -07.00... but the log files are off by 6 hours and time stamp shows GMT +00.00.
this is what happend:
yesterday we had OD 6.1 on windows 2000 without the tzupdater and the log files are 1 hour off (which is known issue and we are ok with it)
but today the OS was upgraded on some servers so now we have the same OD 6.1 on windows 2003, and still without the tzupdater for OD and the log files are off by 6 hours which is not normal) that s why i am wondering if there is anything we need to do after upgrading OS for an existing OD...

You made me dizzy
I think your logic is off. MST should be GMT-0700. I'm in EDT, which is at GMT-0400 but EST is GMT-0500. Daylight Saving Time is an hour ahead, so I believe that if Mountain Time is GMT-0600, it sounds like that's MDT.
I'm going to have a beer now.

sorry to confuse you
how this question:
OD receiver is showing wrong time stamp we are in mountain time zone but it showing london's time zone "GMT +00.00"...
is there way to adjust the time that OD is showing?

No, there isn't a way to adjust it.
Just run the tzupdater. You're going to have to anyway. It might fix the issue. In other words, instead of worrying that the problem is different than what you are expecting it's best to apply the required fix, then see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn't, then continue on with troubleshooting.
