versions /history functionality

HEllo,
on TS 5.5.6/ 6.5 /6.7.1 when you login as an editor or higher, you can view the versions/history of a file.

but you dont get that functionality when you login as an author?

i am trying to create a users who just have read access and can view versions of a file, is it possible to do in TS? (in any of the version i have)

I haven't tried this (don't have a system to play on right now) - but in 6.7.1 you might be able to alter or configure a role with respect to the "Content Management" attributes. According to the manual:[indent]Controls whether users can compare files, publish an edition, submit content, and update workareas (that is, do Get Latest and Copy to Area operations).[/indent]
It sounds like the ability to "compare files" might provide the access you need.

However - all older versions of TeamSite do not permit the Author to see staging and therefore does not allow them to view versions.
