TS Install without Perl on Win2K3.

Hello,
We are a new company starting to use TeamSite and opendeploy for one of our client.
The admin staff installed TS. The docs dont say we need to have Perl before installing TS, so the admin staff did not install Perl. I am wondering how would I do without Perl when working with Workflow later. Is it mandatory to have perl on the server? How much can I do, without perl on the box. Please advice.

Also I get this very generic error: when I try to view/preview files.

Connection Failed
iwproxy was unable to open a connection to: 192.168.x.****:81
Reason: No error.

And when i do iwproxy -d I get the following:

C:\interwoven\bin>iwproxy -d
[Using tickets for authentication]
[Using newfangled blobs]
[iwproxy] iwserver locale: English_UnitedStates.MS1252@Binary
[iwproxy] max_connections (default): 100
[iwproxy] using iwproxy_host from iw.cfg: 192.168.x.****
[iwproxy] listening at http://192.168.x.****:1080
[iwproxy] using customer web server at http://192.168.x.****:82
[iwproxy] using servlet engine at http://192.168.x.****:8080/iw-cc
[iwproxy] using iwwebd at http://192.168.x.****:80
[external remap configuration]

the IP's I have masked.

Please show some light.

When you install Teamsite iw-perl will get installed along with the installation, you need not require to install perl separately.

As already pointed out - TeamSite comes with it's own version of Perl - called iwperl so you do not need (and often don't want) any other version of Perl installed on the server.

Hmm - curious, iwproxy seems to think that the customer web server is running on port 82 according to the debugging messages, but it says it's failing to connect to port 81 - so something is confusing it.

Is this a Windows or Unix server?
Can you check the iw.cfg for both the numbers 81 and 82 and see what you find?
Also check all other configuration files in all other Interwoven installation directories (if on Unix, something like this might do:

find iw-home -type f | xargs grep -i port | egrep "8[12]"

As the title of my subject mentions it is a Windows 2003 server.
amd in our iw.cfg it is 82.

I think by default install it must be 81.

And now the confusion. -- dont know which conf / file to point at.

i think you need to change you iw.cfg to 81 . you can do that by going to iw-home/etc/iw.cfg:

in this section
[iwproxy]
iwproxy_host=localhost
customer_webserver_host=xxxx.w2k.cxo.dec.com
iwproxy_port=1080
customer_webserver_port=81
