OD not able to communicate with itself

I'm trying to deploy from a TeamSite workarea on a machine to another drive on the same machine. Here is my error message:

My conf is attached and I'm calling OD (defining the variables) with the following:

C:\Interwoven\OpenDeployNG\bin\iwodcmd start CEB/OD/WebContent -k repFarm=staging -k "filelistPath=C:\Interwoven\OpenDeployNG\tmp\filelists\wf_filelist_OD_124197.txt" -k "srcArea=Y:\default\main\IT Practice\CIO\WORKAREA\CIO" -k targetDir=D:\

Any ideas? Might it be my targetDir?

First thing I ever look at is TS version in deploy.cfg

Anything in the receiver log ? This appears to be od.log

Also, is this part of a workflow ? What happens if you run it standalone ?

Aha, okay -- here's what I got:

ERROR: Could not create directory (.\d:.iwnew)

deploy.cfg is pretty much the OOTB version so there's nothing interesting there.

So, this sends me down the path of trying to screw with the whole crappy Windows drive specification issue and the backslash MESS that has been plaguing our industry for over 20 years.

I didn't answer your other two questions -- yes, this is part of a workflow and the same thing happens when I do this standalone, which is how I've been dealing with it in trying to debug.

Do I have something missing or errant in my config?

Hmmm, that looks strange.

1st check your deploy.cfg and look at the last line to be certain your teamsite version in there matches the correct one.

Try this (for fun)

make a dir called od-temp at the root of

change your taget dir to d:\od-temp

what happens ?

The TS version matches and I had tried deploying to a subdirectory. That works just fine. But why shouldn't I be able to deploy to the root directory on D? In fact, I need to do so.

You certainly can do that. I do it all the time with my config branch. I push from WORKAREA\config\Interwoven\iw-home to c:\Interwoven\iw-home.

I will put a temp file in the docroot and try it, it worked fine.

BTW, I use the out of the box default submit (with deploy) for that.

Okay, then maybe I'm being retarded. In fact, I probably am. For whatever reason, I couldn't get it to deploy to the root directory on the drive without giving me all sorts of ****.

Yea, well I know the feeling, I have been banging my head on the aspx stuff for a day or so. I am surprised I have been able to post marginally intelligible replies. Smiley Happy

For grins try the default submit and use the deployment that comes with that.

Now that is a date different deployment, which may be different for you.

Yeah, I saw your post on aspx and while I've worked on a several such implementations, they haven't been on 6.7.1, so that's why I didn't ring in. Have you had problems with this in the past? Actually, why don't you PM me if you feel that I might be of help -- I'd rather not this one go off topic.

BTW, I changed the default submit deployment to transactional (which yours is) and added a new dir and file, both worked fine.

I'm convinced that this problem I'm having can be attributed to something that is otherwise so inconsequential. I'll give it a fresh look in the morning but in the meantime, I can work on other things.

I assume you have d:\ set as an allowed directory?
Is it specified as

Have you tried specifying the targetDir with the variants as well (16 possible combinations)?

The error looks a little strange. Like it's trying to make a directory called diwnew and not d:\iwnew. Do you need to pass two backslashes in your command?
