Memory Requirement 6.5 Sp2 Search

tik

We are installing 6.5 SP2 teamsite together with search on Solaris box

Can I please know the memory requirements for the search, precisely "Shared Filesystem Location" as well as the memory requirements for the search home (iwsearch-home) folder.

We have almost 90 branches, 4 backing stores.

Thanks

i cant give you exact numbers... but i can say my shared file location is 25% to 40% of the total size of the iwstore....

Hi,

Refer to Page 11 in your TS 6.5 installation document.

Search should be installed on the separate box than TeamSite. The computational overhead will be significant for the intial indexing, especially for the larger stores. As far as the Search_home size is concerned, this is bigger than the TeamSite install.

I agree, but what do you do for your dev server ? buy 2 ?

i think both search and teamsite can survive on the same box on dev enviroment Smiley Happy

as long as you dont have seriouse work to do on a dev box or have really really "weak hardware like 256MB RAM..."? in our case the dev box is llightly used from time to time so i dont see significant problem in having both search and TS on the same box.

Very correct ! It is only the performance which gets the hit, functionality should be fine unless one runs into hardware limitations.
