InDesign document errors
Bill Klish
MediaBin 4.5.3
I have added an indesign file to the mediabin repository, but there is no preview visible in the preview tv. I try to download and run it through the PDF or JPEG out of the box tasks and get the following error (after seeing "The file is being prepared by the server"):
Exception in Primitive {1E885AE2}! Reason = Error cannot write generic data file as an image.
, Message = PSD.
ERROR: Job {24641D4B-AF4C-445F-AD2F-A599DAA20921} Returned error by primitive PDF Encoder from ForwardSetup(); RC = The operation failed. Check the log output for details
Exception in Primitive {46387A51}! Reason = Received invalid image types, Message = FlattenerPrimitive: Cannot process non-image.
ERROR: Job {D610BAF3-3E7E-4B32-ADFC-4E823C2E275C} Returned error by primitive Flattener from ForwardSetup(); RC = The operation failed. Check the log output for details
What is wrong? almost seems like it isn't recognizing it as an InDesign file. I don't have indesign to test it against.

If you can attach the Indesign file I can try replicating the same.

Hmm, it is 2.5 mb. Can I attach something that big?
Is there anything I need to do extra, or could this be related to the same issue I am seeing with my photoshop?

The indesign file was created using version CS2 (4.0.3). Is that version supported?

I have not applied any of the MediaBin 4.5.3 patches that have been released. This is a development server being used for a proof of concept. Should I download all of the separate patches that have been released since last August and apply each one of them?

There may be some confusion here. InDesign files are compound documents and the base file does not contain enough information to reconstruct the image. This is why we have the InDesign plug-in which gathers together all the necessary information into one big file. Just adding an InDesign file without the plug-in will simply yield a generic (non-image) asset.
I am afraid that since there is simply not enough information in just that file to do anything, it is logically impossible to do any better.

Good to know. Silly mistake on my part. The customer purchased the InDesign plugins and I forgot to install them
I am going to install them today and see if things work as intended.

I followed the plug in installation instructions and it failed with this message after I copied the DLL over there (see attached screenshot)
The application or DLL C:\Program Files\MediaBin Server\LIBEXPATW.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
In the MBP.log file the following message is in there:
04/12/07 22:50:27 ERROR: DLL missing expected entry point: C:\Program Files\MediaBin Server\Primitives\MB_Sansui.dll. Server exiting.
04/12/07 22:50:27 ERROR: Catalog load failed - Check for existence of primitive DLLs
