It sounds like you may use <filters> with <excludePattern> Tags to accomplish that.
These are subtags of <pathSpecification>, see OpenDeploy® Administration Guide for details

like in source have

-tmp

then we can exclude "tmp" ,
so tmp wont exit in the destination,

"exclude" can apply in destination server ?

You can configure filters on the source side, target side, or both.

Read the manual, see examples, create and test your deployment confuigurations and post your issues if you have any.

I did try put the filter in source , target , source & target

Is tmp a directory directly at the root of the target area to which you are deploying? or is it somewhere further down in the directory structure (e.g.: ./subdir/tmp)?

If the latter - you'd probably be better off using excludePattern regex="/tmp$"

If the above does not help - please post (as an attachment) your actual deployment configuration file so that we can see where/how you configured it.

Forgot to mention,

our source is sitting in Windows
target is in Unix machine,
not sure thats issue or not

I try to exclude "eia/online_resource" from the target.

i dont think it matters if it is cross platforms, if the deployment can go through, then the rules will apply.
and this something i use in our deployments to exclude folders from the src from being deployment... and to exclude folders from the target to be deleted
