InDesign Plugin - MBException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I installed InDesign plugin on our Server (Usually install at Client Machine -for me to do a test before installing to the client machines),

when I attempt to enter my User Authentication information, I get a popup window with the message

"MBException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

The Log msg as follows (C:\Temp\10 19 2007_IDHTTP2MediaBin)

Both my web services are up

http://ServerName/MediaBinWebService/MediaBinServer.asmx

I tested the ValidateCurrentUser using the MediaBinWebService

(

http://ServerName/MediaBinWebService/MediaBinServer.asmx?op=ValidateCurrentUser

and it shows the current user details>>

I tested the AuthenticateUser using idhttp2mediabin

(

http://ServerName/idhttp2mediabin/idhttp2mediabin.asmx?op=AuthenticateUser

)

and it gives the same error

"MBException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Envir:

MediaBin 4.6.1 Build 7

Adobe InDesign CS2

Windows 2000 Advan Server SP2

HTTPforInDesignInstaller_PC_4.1.7

Does the user have permissions in MediaBin? I know I get that error if a user does not have permissions on ANY container. So, when the application tries to load and I try to reference a container, that error is thrown.

The user has Full Control Permission to the folders.

If I miss anything please advice me

Boy, that's a little frustrating. I know what your error means however I am not sure how to troubleshoot it since I didn't write the plug-in. Essentially, in the code, an object is being instantiated and a method is being called but, nothing is being returned and then the code is trying to do something on a null reference object.

Unfortunately, I don't know what that code is trying to do under the covers. Perhaps a permissions (doesn't sound like it based on our response) or a default container is not being returned or maybe the MBAsset is missing.

Sorry, I can't help anymore. Good luck though, I'm sure one of the iwov people will chime in to help.

Thanks for the answers , I already Opened a Case with Support .

My R &D helped to identify the error and I resolved the web services issues
Couple of install / uninstall software’s in different servers helped me to identify the error.

The MedinBin 4.6 required .net frame work 2.0 So the Server is already build up with the check list softwares .
But the IDHTTP2Mediabin.exe( In Design web service ) requires .net frame work 1.1

The bug comes only with order less installtion of the .net 1.1 .net .2.0 and Microsoft WSE 1.0 and 2.0 SP

I reinsttled the IIS , Cleaned the .net frame work files and then follows the logical steps
Like install .net frame work 1.1 then .net frame work 2.0 SP and Microsoft WSE 2.0
So the web serivies issues has been resolved …. Oh .... :rolleyes:

Still One issues is remaining

As you may have noted, the ID plug-in requires a number of components. Please open a support case so tey can take you through troubleshooting.
