OpenDeploy Connection Error.

Hi,

While trying to connect from OD base to OD receiver with the hostname of the target, I am getting an error
"Exceeded all 3 attempts to connect to the receiver."

Then I changed the hostname of the target to the ip address and this time the error is
"Could not find matching OpenDeploy client."

I am also able to telnet or ping the target from the base server at port 20014.

Can anybody please let me know how this error can be resolved?

Have you restarted the OD after changing to IP address ?

Yes, I restarted the OD services after making the change. I made this change in the odnodes.xml file in the base.

Is the above highlighted line correct as written - you were able to telnet to the receiver's port - or you were not able to do so?

If you can not telnet to the receiver's OD port from the base server there may be a number of possibilities:

Also - make sure - what version of OD is installed on the base server? what version of OD is installed on the receiver? (this includes service pack and patch information).

The sender and receiver version of OD is 6.0.2.0.0.

Okay - so you can telnet from the sender to the receiver via the target IP @ port 20014 - this is good as it means there is connectivity and that the receiver is running.

Can you try doing the same thing using the hostname instead of the IP Address of the receiver? (this will determine if there is a DNS issue involved)

Can you verify the entry for this host in the odnodes.xml file on the base server? and verify that the base server process has been restarted since the last change to either odnodes.xml or odbase.xml?

Using the IP address in the odnodes file should work.
To get the DNS issue resolved so you can use the hostname - talk to your local network administrator (it can be as simple as adding an entry to your local hosts file, or something more involved - but they should be involved)
