Problem Adding New Item

I am trying to add a new item to a current DCT. We already have several DCR's generate from this DCT. The problem is, when I add the new item to the DCT and then try to edit the existing DCR's, the content does not show on the form. I am afraid to save this of course, because I don't want to erase all the work I did. I have tried moving it around to several place with the same result. Attached is my DCT and my DTD.

Can you post an existing DCR ? You may want to edit and save it and post the modified as well.

When this happens, it is typically that you renamed or changed level of a field. Adding a new field will not do what you are saying. Moving files into containers or renaming the fields will.

I have done this way too many times and typically write a perl script to regex the new changes and then you can edit the DCR and preserve the data.

As long as your data has been submitted, it is not lost, may not be trivial to get back but you can.

Could you please provide exact reference as what you have added and where, within the attached DCT?

Sorry about that. I added the item "reviseDate". I haven't changed anything else.

Post your DCR before the change and one after.

Hi ,

When you change your datacapture.cfg (new addition/deletion of items)

then you need to handle existing DCR's before this change.

So the option available here is to write a script to parse existing DCR's

and replace new old Item to new Item .

EX:-

old:-

Page Title

Author

new :-

Page Title

Sub-Title

Author

If you observe the new Item Subtitle is the new Item added in the DCR.

So you need to write a script which will find author item in existing DCR's

and replace it with "subtitle" item prior to it with the required default value.

then you can edit the existing DCR's after running this script successfully.
