Auto creation of Metadata in DCRs? Possible?

Is it possible to have the following Metadata Auto-Created in DCRs?

Language = english (hard coded)
Author = content (hard coded)
author = employee # (system generated)
date modified = date (system generated)

Again, this data is available in the system or just hard-coded above.

I'm pretty new at this DCR stuff, sorry if this is a lame question Smiley Tongue

Yes doing that is possible.

You can, on the save event, do a call server to set the data. A little complex, not horrible.

An easier way to do it is in your workflow. Set up an external task to read the DCR and make those changes before anything runs that needs that information. That would be easier, but the data will not be on the DCR until you submit.

1) The 'save' event would be coded into each template, correct? It can only fire *after* the file was generated so it has somewhere to actually *write* the metadata, correct?

2) Would the WorkFlow event be called on every TeamSite submission? Just inserting the metsdata then?

Yep, you have it pretty close. As to the workflow, you have 2 choices. 1st, an external task that looks through the list of files attached and runs on those who's type you want tagged. Or #2, in the template_script, add the new external task only if one or more of the DCRs is in your list.

#2 is more complex but better in performance. However, IMHO, unless you are looking at hundreds of WF jobs every minute, the difference in performance will not be significant. However if you are not familiar with writing a dynamic WF, the level of effort may very well be significant.
