Hi,
Just been asked to look into content management platforms. Trying to get to grips (as i am finding it hard to find information on this), of basically how interwoven hangs together, what development tools does it use, the architecture and server os and database platforms that are be supported. If any one good give me a synopsis of the above, that would be most helpful (i would rather hear it from the horses mouth than a load of marketing get thrown at me from interwoven!).
Many Thanks

Interwoven is truly a content management system in the sense that it manages content as opposed to providing a replacement to your development tools/environment. It currently runs on several OS platforms but I believe it was originally created for UNIX and therefore is most stable in that environment. There are several companies that choose to use the Win2K platform, most likely for political and cost reasons. As for the architecture, it is broken down into a backing store (datastore) for holding all your content and metadata (information is stored in an Interwoven proprietary format), device driver (to represent the content of the backing store in a directory structure), proxy servers for browser based access and to allow collaboration without stepping on other developer's toes (there may be different versions of the same file in multiple workareas - all handled by the proxy servers), and then there are command line tools, TeamSite CGI, and file system mounts for added convenience.
Bottom line is that Interwoven is an "open" product with hooks for doing just about whatever you want, provided you throw enough programming/development resources at it.
Hope this helps.
