Worksite Web using a default login

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to use WorkSite Web without authentication and force it to use a single login for all users? (without the login screen appearing) We want to have a particular database made available via a browser that is used to view documents only (they cannot save back into this database) [It's a precedents database for a law firm]

Essentially we want to use a default user login without prompting the user for a login - this user will have limited access to this system, controlled via Worksite. Other users who want to access this database completely will need to use another link (a version of Worksite web that uses the normal login/authentication system)

I have tried setting various options in the Options.xml file (is there any documentation available that explains all the settings that are available - in particular for the Security/Trusted-Login sections?) as well as setting only anonymous access in IIS and getting IIS to use an account that is setup in Worksite as well as the default anonymous account - none of which worked of course!

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to get out of writing a custom authentication module or seperate page/site.

What I do when all users log into worksite web with read permissions, is use a generic user and create a link like this:

http://SERVERNAME/WorkSite/scripts/home.aspx?userID=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&page=!nrtdms:0:!session:srvprime:!database Smiley Very Happy

ATABASE:!page:188:

Where page:188 is the prj_id of the workspace I what to go.

The main problem, is you have to send the password of the user in the URL, however it is a generic user and only read access.

Doing you will not have login page.

You could also set WorkSite web to use a default userid by passing that userid as a variable in the header. You will need to enable web access management.

Hi All,

I'm using worksite web 8.2. I create a windows application to perform some operations like create workspace, Folder, sub folders, upload and download files.
I'm doing this in .net 2.0 to achive programmaticaly i add a web reference and create a object and perform these activities. The reference is(http://localhost/worksite/services/IWOVServices.asmx) know my problem is authentication when i use this webservice i'm getting (The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.) to overcome this issue i should have credentials to get login in worksite web.
My problem is this application is used by more than 100 people so i dont want to add these many peoples in interwoven and pass creditinals. But i want all these peoples to create a workspace and do all. I think there must be default login to do.

What are my possiblities to achieve and what is the best approach to do

SirHC, there is a document called "WorkSite Application Integration Toolkit.pdf" on your WSW installation disk. Inside this document is a chapter describing the flags in Options.xml.

peter_bui, the only way I have found to add a header is through an ISAPI filter that must be installed on the IIS. Have you found a way to make this work through .net w/o an ISAPI filter? If so, I'd appreciate it if you would post your code or a URL to an article.
