setting an expiration date on content

Is there any way to set an expiration date on content in Team Site and have the system send out a notification when the expiration date is approaching?

This is easy to do in a script, I do it often. This is not out of the box functionality.

You need to describe you environment more to get any relevant information

Natively, out of the box, no.

Now saying that, you have a few options (probably more)
1) use LiveSite which will expire/rotate content for you.
2) use javascript to check at load-time and hide expired content
3) use TS FormsPublisher templates to check for expired content before building the page
4) (we do this) Transform the raw content to HTML when the user requests the page and don't allow for expired content to be used. (Just-In-Time publishing, similar to LiveSite, but not as saphisticated)

From your clarification, it sounds like you will need a scheduled task or a cron job to search your TS content repository for expired information (Perl, Java, .Net...). There may be a way to use extented attributes (not sure). If you are using search, you most likely would be able to use it. (maybe)

Write a script to traverse your branch(es) and parse out expiration date/send a mail to owners.
Use a Scheduler to run it. Depending on your Expiration Policy you may want to run it as often as daily
or as rarely as once a month and anything in between

Hello All,

I also have a similar requirement in teamsite wherein when the pdf/html file is imported an expiry date should be set and later when the date approaches an email should be sent to the initator of the wf.

Is this possible through WFM in teamsite 6.7.2 SP2

Any help would be appreciated.
