Hello all,

sorry to waste yr precious time.But here is one query.I've searched all the PDFs for an elementary knowledge about the extended attributes like what EAs are, by default what EAs are set, which file contains the related information about the EAs etc.I couldnt find answers to my queries in the PDFs.

i'll be grateful if anyone can throw some light or tell me where to look at for the answers(in case if I've missed them in the PDFs).

Great Question, as far as I know, EAs are maintained internally by the iwserver and iwstore just as the Attributes are maintained by a filesystem however the difference lies in that EAs are customised attributes and can be written and read by the IW Server and IW IFS only.

Search on Google on how attributes are maintained for a file..

In case, someone has any other information, please let us know.

By definition *Extended Attributes* is a file system feature that enables users to associate arbitrary metadata with Files.
Filesystem normally ignores this *Metadata*, users set/use it via GUI, various APIs and whatnot. TS keeps EA's in the backing
store *linked* to the File but not as a part of it.

The following incomplete list shows EAs that TS would normally set on your behalf, transparently or as a result of some
user activity. Note that depending on what you do and how you do it you may be forced to set (some of) these
attributes yourself.

DCR Type attribute:
  TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type

Generated Asset attributes:
  TeamSite/Templating/Encoding
  TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDCR
  TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDocumentType
  TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryPT

Customer Metadata attributes:
  TeamSite/Metadata/Your MD Name

I am not aware of any IWOV Document dedicated exclusively to Extended Attributes
