Metadata to files

Hello Forum,
currently i am applying metadata to asp pages using the getDCRValue option, all information is extracted form its dcr form.
The goal now is to apply metadata to other files that do not have a dcr related such as: .pdf, .doc, .xls and some others, any suggestion.
