Question to Interwoven Engineering regarding TinyMCE

I Know that TinyMCE is still a new feature that Interwoven just presented in 6.7.1 and needs time to mature enough, but we had some issues with Tinemce and i hope you guys can look in to it or if already have a solution for them

when entering tags such as span or javascript tags using code( html) button. they disappear right away after closing the code pop up window!!!!!!

a number of the buttons don't work properly the trick here to find out if these buttons work or not is to click on the code( html) button and see if you can find their tags there , if not then they will disappear as soon as you save dcr .

the size of the textarea shrinks as soon as you save the dcr. this was a bug in teamsite , after we report it Interwoven sent us a patch for this bug and now it is working . so for any one who might be interested in using Tinymce Editor needs to know this .

when registering an event such as onItemChange for a function to fire up after changing the content in editor textarea it doest work in IE but works in FireFox

We have a problem while using TinyMCE in our DCT.After setting a font for a entered text and if we view the html code using code( html) button, font tags are not present.Also after saving the DCR, if we open it again all the font settings has been lost. If you have faced this problem ,please let me know the patch/solution details.

As a guess (just a guess) TinyMCE may be trying to be XHTML compliant and if you look here you'll see that font tags were deprecated in XHTML...

Do you have the same problem with other tags (like <hr/>) ? or just with <font ...>...</font> tags ? If the latter, then the above guess is probably pretty good, if the former, then you can probably ignore the guess.

I would check the tiny_mce_src.js file for something like

this.defParam("valid_elements", "some really long string here");

the really long string defines what elements tinymce will allow, and not trim out. There is also some documentation on the TinyMCE site at

I have yet to see a single IWOV reply to any TinyMCE question. So far, this editor is poorly implemented, poorly supported, and lacks any "normal" moxious configuration options. Some of the basic things it should do are:

- Stop blowing out my code!: I need to be able to set base_url, where do I do this? Is there an equivelant IWTinyMCECustomConfig for doing this? If not, where is tinyMCE.init() being called so I can throw the normal configuration options into it?
- Start being XHTML compliant. The following code currently being generated is not cool and makes tinyMCE a poor editor for any site that desires to be validated:

This seems to be a very poorly planned and poorly executed option for the TeamSite product line. Everything else about the product is great, I've used it for years and love it.

Interwoven, please answer the TinyMCE questions... even if just to say "sorry guys, we're working on it."

Enhanced customizability of tinymce was introduced only in SP1.

Also, the "disappearance" of tags is because tinymce does code cleanup as scojo1 said. This has been made customizable in SP1.

BTW, You could also use extended_valid_elements to solve the problem.
