TeamSite Workflow log archiving

On the course I attended at Interwoven we covered WorkFlow and it was said at the time that if a special task to archive the workflow logs was not inserted before the End Task then the logs would be lost when the workflow terminates. My questions are:
1) How do we create a such an archiving task?
2) Where would archived logs be stored?
3) Are there logs of any kind that are created without this special task and if so, where would I find them?

1. You need to write a customised script (external task), which reads out your transition comments and logs required to archive and write out the same as per the location specified.

2. Thats totally depends upon the requirement usage of the logs. Whether it needs to be reported out or just needed to help in maintenace?

3. Once job gets terminated, no job comments gets retained by the system.

Another option is to shell out some $$'s and buy Interwoven's Report Center - configure it along with the event subsystem - in which case the information gets stored in a DB intended to be processed with Crystal Reports (3rd party vendor - more $$'s)
