TeamSite 6.7.1 on XP professional

Hi

Has anybody got Teamsite 6.7.1 working on an XP professional machine? The spec of my machine is CPU - P3 1000Mhz, 512Mb. Windows is XP version 2002 service pack 2. This is intended for single use only but a dozen test users will be set up.

Is this machine too low?

Windows XP is not supported and the installer will prevent you from installing it (although I do know a way to bypass that).

In answer to your question, if you were able to install it, then yes, it will run slooooooowwwwwwwww........ You need a faster better cpu and more ram, and I'm guessing maybe a bigger hard drive. That machine is way underpowered.

As stated before, TS cannot run on an XP box.

However there is another option. I run a win 2000 server in a VMware instance on my XP laptop. I needed to up the memory to 2 G and you need at least 20GB free disk for the VMware instance. But it works well. VMware player can be downloaded free (though the networking is limited). You can buy the workstation version for cheep. You still need to set up a virtual machine, but that is not too tough.

FYI, that is how IWOV trainers work, they place their laptop on the net and have a VMware instance they can run and other computers can get to it.

This is certainly not how I would implement a production system, but if you have a small set of developers and no dev server, that is a very good option.
