Previewe error after upgrade from TS 65 SP2 to TS671 SP1.

After upgrading from TS 6.5 SP2 to TS 6.7.1 SP1 we are facing the following problem in previewing the existing DCR’s. (OS: Windows 2003)

An error occurred in utility daemon. Error code: 6. Please see details in iwutild.log.

We have tried the following suggestions from Devnet forum but still our problem is not resolved –
1)Checked the service "Interwoven Servlet Engine", its running well.
2)Edit the entry in iw.cfg file followed by iwrest -a.

impersonate_without_password=false
3)Tried by making the user as administrator for the particular branch.
4)After modification to iw.cfg, executed iw-home/iw-ebd/bin/iwwebd_conf.ipl followed by iwreset –UI to change the settings for iwwebd to reflect the new server name.
5)Confirmed user is a valid member of TeamSite Web Preview group also.

One more thing - Is it possible to migrate roles.uid from TS 6.5 files to tsgroup.xml in TS 6.7.1 manually without using iw-home/bin/iwusermigrate,iw-home/bin/iwaccessmigrate –m and iw-home/bin/iwaccessmigrate –f command line tools.

Can anybody please help us to find what could be the reason for the error? Any pointers in this regard would be a great help.

There is nothing in iwutild.log except that hopi server is started.

We are having a similar problem on our dev server, SP1 not yet installed.

iwutild.log contains no useful infomation - tail -f shows no entries added by preview attempt.

Here is sample output from previewed page (always the same),

Try looking at /local/logs/iwutild_cmdout.log

Note that in 6.7.1SP1(Windows), the config flags in iw.cfg for impersonation have changed a bit. This is documented in the release notes.

Use disable_ext_task_impersonation=true to force external tasks to run as the account (usually SYSTEM) which TeamSite started as.

OK, go back to square 1. Is this only for DCR or can you preview any HTML files ?

If it is only DCRs, can you properly generate then and view the generated file ?

FYI, ulit.log and util_cmd.log are of marginal help. If you cannot generate or preview a DCR, then there is a TPL issue. Open a shell on the server and start working with iwpt_compile.ipl

That is a long and painful process, also learn to reuse you commands, because otherwise you will be typing a great deal.

I have noticed that the TPL debugging is harder now that it had been. I tend to stick print statements within the iwperl tags to see where a mistake is.

We had the same problem and it turned out to be a permissions issue. Can you preview if you are logged in as a Teamsite Master/Admin?

Thanks nipper, as per suggestions i checked the already generated pages it's previewing fine. Then i tried iwpt_compile.ipl and it shows me error in two files -
1)Iw-home\iw-perl\vendor\lib\TeamSite\PT\iwov_mediabin_import.pm at line 205.
2)could not open Iw-home\custom\web2\\iw_includes\Mediabin.tpl

Actually I have installed the TS 671 SP1 on new machine and then i migrated the content. Can you please guide me how to debug the situation.

You did not migrate over $iw-home/custom/web2/iw_includes/mediabin.tpl, did you migrate everything on the config branch to the new machine ?

Since I wrote a lot of the code you are working on, have you upgraded from ECM connector 1.1 to 2.0 ?

Question 1.
Why are there two different PM for Media Bin Import? a) iwov_import_mediabin.pm and b) iwov_mediabin_import.pm?

Is this something related to our implementation or does ECM Connector ship with these two variations? ---- It's our implementation. Smiley Sad

Hi Andy. Yup, we migrated over from ECM Connector 1.1 to 2.0. We are able to connect to MediaBin from the DCT at this stage. But as mentioned earlier, the iwov_import_mediabin.pm is giving all sorts of funky errors.

Just using the statement to import the assets messes up the presentation. If we remove the asset import statements, everything is running fine.

We have moved everything over from the config branch, that we thought was applicable for the new server. But are still completely bamboozled by this MediaBin import.

If I try using the OOTB pm, it still gives me errors.

AARRGGHH... Really frustrated at this stage with this...

Yea, well we were told to use ECM 1.1 so we did. 2.0 is very different. I do not remember the exact details of the 2 PMs, one *may* have been a customization of the other just for that project.

This was identified as my biggest concern when I left, there are no great answers except address issues one at a time.

Why is the pm not finding custom/web2/iw_includes/Mediabin.tpl ? Is it not there or are there other issues ?

Well, it is definitely able to find the TPL. The reason I can say that with confidence is that the import_mediabin command is only in that tpl and in none other.

Also, as soon as I clear that tpl completely and leave a blank file, the preview shows up all the content, except for the images pulled through MediaBin.

I am trying to create something new from scratch. There is a modified version of the perl module to suit the needs of the client.

The bigger concern is that, as soon as I mention the command, it throws an error. The error is stated herein:

Is the purpose of MediaBin.tpl to only supply it with a URL? Because the actual files are pulled during the workflow process as well.
Do you suppose I can use 'immediate' attribute to grab the files from MediaBin.

But, then, the workflow still needs this command to work. So, lost cause anyhow.

EDIT - The error does not go away even if I use the latest version of the perl module.

TeamSite:T::iwov_import_mediabin: Could not obtain a session string

documentation says


When an ECM Connector tag iwov_import_mediabin, iwov_import_worksite, or
iwov_link_worksite is used in a presentation template, the template may
not function if it is applied from the command line (for example, using
iwgen or iwregen) or in a non-standard execution environment.  These tags
require access to a valid TeamSite session string.

The session string is provided by ContentCenter when the Preview or
Generate commands are performed, and is provided by the workflow engine if
the template is applied in an external task.  The environment variable
IWAUTH can be set to a valid session string if one is not already available.

How can I set it up so that I see some sort of response in the Command Prompt? Is there some way to set a value for IWAUTH?
