Using DCR's with components

Imagine you have a lot of DCR's and a component to display them. It's not entirely clear to me how the component "knows" which DCR an end user wants to view in his browser. Is this a parameter passed to the Livesite implementation? Is the URL used for this? It would be nice if someone could clarify this.

I'm no livesite expert, but i will take a stab at this -

Within a component you can use the DCR datum to allow the component developer to create/edit an existing DCR. I think it is recommended that the DCRs be given good naming conventions so the user can identify which one to use in the component.

From the DCR datum description.. I still have some playing to do... you can restrict this to a single Category/Type or give the vpath(from workarea) to the exact DCR.
