help - conflicting visualformat versions

We have TS 6.7.1 installed on our dev server and 6.1.0 on production with different versions of visualformat (VF 3,1,0,11 and VF 4,3,0,8)

The latest VF install seems to have partially corrupted the earlier version - it still appears but is not behaving correctly. Not all buttons are appearing and text + html are being removed.

My question is, how to uninstall VF???

It's not in any IWOV documentation or Ektron web site. Also not in Add/Remove Programs, no ActiveX control visible in IE options dialog. Previously I have uninstalled from both of these locations, but now, nothing...

Please help, this is causing serious headaches.

I suggest you (a) check the registry and (b) contact Support

Thanks for the suggestion. I did edit the windows registry, and that did the trick.

I searched for and deleted any keys containing ektron* or ewebedit*.

I also deleted about 15 files from the Win system32 folder, ek*.dll, eweb*.dll, and eweb*.ocx, and then the contents of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Interwoven\VisualFormat as well as the Temp folder.

So now I can successfully install the conflicting versions of visualformat (to be safe, best to uninstall one before installing the other).

What we are looking at now is upgrading VF on our production server until we can roll out our TS 6.7.1 installation, so we can avoid this headache.

You might want to check with IWOV Support first - I'm not sure if the upgraded version of VFE is compatible / works with the earlier versions of TS -- or it might take a bit more effort than what you're anticipating (no idea)

We encountered the same problem, and Support sent us a custom 6.7.1 visualformat.exe.

The conflict is a result of incompatible versions of a third-party control called the ActiveBar.

See Different versions of ActiveBar for instructions on how to re-register the correct version of the ActiveBar for different versions of VFE.
