Updating worksitemp library name

I want to update my library name from X to Y. These reason for doing this is the library name is displayed in the URL (of each workflow instance). As per the company policy we should not display the library name (which is nothing but my old company name).

Folks I appriciate if you can suggest some alternate ways to achieve this.

Delete old library.
Create a new library with new name pointing to the old database.
Save. Restart CMS.
Viola!

It will not work.

Some features like subscriptions and favorites rely on Object IDs that have the library name embedded in them.

Renaming a library would be major effort and is not supported.

Thanks for your responses. I know it is a major effort, but has anybody tried it out. Appriciate any hints that i can follow to do reverse engg.
