Is there any way of determining the logged-in user in "portal_custom.xml"?
or to check whether the logged-in user is named "somename".

This would be in the actual "portlet" you have on the CC Standard home page. The xml file is just a configuration file. Any logic processing would happen in the actual portlet (a JSP page).

In TeamSite 6.7.1, you can control how things appear based on role, and you can define a specific custom operation and only assign it to the user someone. See the user interface customization guide for defining custom user operations.

Thanks. I implemented the logic in JSP and its working fine.
But i face one more problem.
I get the role of the user and accordingly i display the portlets(JSP pages).
The problem is with the role. If the role is admin or editor it identifies the role.
But if it is author or reviewer or any other user defined role, it recognises the role only as author. Suggest me some solution for this issue...I dont know where i have gone wrong..
