Question on iw-Home

As i just completed the installation of the teamsite 6.7.1 release and teamsite search module, I found out a couple of issue that i have no answer for it. I hope that somoene can answer them.

1. I installed the teamsite as per the instalation documentation and as per the default setting within the instalation screen. the instalation documentation refer to the instalation being done in a folder call iw-home yet after the instalation was completed with no error I notice that the instalation directory was \program file\interwoven\teamsite does this make a difference??

2. After completing the instalation of the search module which gave me a bit of problem figuring out what was the entry for the "shared filesystem locations" after trying several different entries which did not work in the end I enter "Y\default " and i'm still not sure if this is a valid entries.

The search does not work after doing a search in the KB database and inside DevNet I still can figure out why it does not work.

Here what I have found out so far the event subsystem service is running and the teamsite search service is running but i cannot start the teamsite index service I start it and it stop right away there is no error.

After reading several issue raise and trying different solution I still have not being able to figure out why the teamsite index service will not start.

The teamsite application and teamsite search module are install on the same server Windows 2003 standard edition service pack 2, I know that this is not the recomended instalation the search should be installed on a different server but this is our development server and we do not have a second server to install the search module on.

Any help would be appraciated.

It does not need to be iw-home, however, directories with spaces are a bad idea. Thank you Microsoft. This makes your scripting more difficult, impossible no, more difficult yes.
If you are not to far, I would reinstall in a different directory (\interwoven\iw-home) is my standard.

Nope that is definitely wrong. It must be a real filesystem that the search engine can store the index information. \interwoven\TS_search_shared or something like that is fine. It will create folders underneath.

Per the search/TS on the same server. No big deal. You will notice that the index takes a good chunk of CPU when you do a new branch and it needs to index everything, but that is not an issue.

You are right I'm not that far so I will do a re-install to a new directory "iw-home"

For the shared filesystem location, just to make sure I understand right this is a directory that need to be located on the c:drive of the server where teamsite is install, and the name can be anything I choose preferably a file name without space. It also need to be created before the search module is installed?

Yea, that is the best approach, remove the directories that were created as well.

Per the search, IIRC, it wants a directory that exists and the installer will create directories underneath.

I use:

\interwoven\iw-home
\interwoven\search
\interwoven\shared
\interwoven\OpenDeployNG

interwoven and shared were the only directories I needed to make before the installer ran.

Hi nipper,

I did follows your recomendation and it's seem to fix most of the problem that i was encountering, now the only error i get is " The selected area is not indexed for search." I just need to figure out why this happen. There was no info on that when I search the forum.

Any suggestion on where I could look for that?

Sure, RTFM.

edit iwsearch/etc/branches.cfg, add the branch and bounce the ts index daemon.

Again you were right on the money for that one, as soon as I configure the branche.cfg file it work just fine.

Your help was definitly apperciated. As i move forward with the deployment and development of our teamsite instalation I will most likely need more help from time to time and the forum is certainly the place to get it.
