alternative to datadeploy

Curious if anyone is using an alternative to datadeploy for xml2db or metadata2db operations for standalone-type deployments (not DAS). We are experiencing severe scalability issues with datadeploy (dbLoader, specifically) and are seeking other options (free/proprietary/whatever). Our primary requirement is to map XML to a table schema for inserts/updates to our database (varchar/int/date fields). We use oracle 10G.

About our scalability issues....
We run OD/DD using "dbLoader". dbLoader serializes all database deployments which causes backlogs which eventually hangs OD. A FR has been filed to enable parallel deployments with dbLoader, but I get the sense this is not going to be added to the product any time soon.
