iwmigrate issues

Hi All,

We are using TS6.1 on Solaris 8.

We had previously migrated TS from TS 5.5.2 to TS6.1.

We are now migrating the store from TS 5.5.2 to TS6.1.

The following are the attributes that are not getting migrated properly into the new Iwstore. The list of attributes that are having discrepencies are lised below.

--> Modified by attribute
--> creator attribute
--> Workarea attribute

Note: e.g. it is showing Modified by root for DCRs in the new store , where as in the old store its is modified by test_user.

Any clues as to why the issue is there .

The new and old store are on the same box and we are Using LDAP.

what are the parameters you are passing while running iwmigrate?

If you are refering to the attributes not getting migrated properly... what are you referring to.. are they having improper userids... eg: instead of Prem is it nshowing Chicka or insteadof LDAP userid is it giving LDAP uid number..

Please shed light on this.

Did you create all of your user accounts on the new server prior to moving the store? It sounds like it could be a UID mapping issue.

I was referring to actual LDAP uids which will be in number format..
I have faced this issue. If the binding b/w TS and LDAP goes off then all the file ownership details will be in number format which are basically LDAP UIDs..
Have I cleared ur doubt?

The other reason you might get an LDAP UID is the same reason you would get an OS UID or SID (depending on the OS) - which is if the account no longer exists. The ID value is what is actually used when setting permissions on files and directories and such - and it's the file system that takes care of mapping the ID to some form of name (userid) - but if the account no longer exists, there's no userid to map to it, and thus you're left with just the ID value.

In cases such as this, you would use the iwidmap utility to adjust the ownership of such files in the backing store to become owned by someone else.

We are presently tracking the issue with IW Support.

Both our new as well as Old Store is on the same Box , so creation of User is not a problem.

For all the files it is showing modified by root.

Would let you know the reason , once we get an update from the IW Support.
