Multiple deployments

Hi,
Can someone help me out when to use or not to use following? what for they are? what combination they can be used and what combination should not be used? Any known issues involved around these?

1) entry in the odbase.xml file:
initiatorProperties pendSessions="yes"

2) '-inst nstname' in deployments

3) odbase.xml or odrcvr.xml
listenerProperties … pathRegistryChecking=”yes”

4) blockMaxWaitTime and the blockCheckInterval in the deployment xml file

Well I use the -inst often

If you do deployments in a workflow and have the chance of multiple deployments at once, then this allows the deployments to run in parallel. Pre 6.X of OD failed any other deployments, in 6.X if you run several deployments (of the same deployment type) at once, they will run sequentially.
