Uploading problems using the java applet

We are currently facing a lot of issues while uploading through the java applet uploading. Do we have any other upload manager in place which can be used to upload in teamsite?

Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Can you explain what kind of issue you are facing with the applet? Also have you tried updating the JRE on your machine?

Yes we are using jvm1.4.2 as suggested by Interwoven but still shows the cross mark when try to click on import

which webbrowser do you use?
For a test: set all your browser security settings to a very low level and check if you always have the red cross...

We are using IE6.0. Do you have any other suggestion?

Go to the Java control panel and make sure in the browser tab Internet Explorer is checked.

I havent seen any problems with the IMPort functionality . It defitely something with your JVM or something else. Which version of TS are you on? Which Server OS? and Which Client OS are you facing the issue on? Also mention SPS

Is there a firewall or a Proxy server between the Teamsite Clients And the Teamsite Server ? I've seen upload issues in case you go through a reverse proxy .As a quick check open the Internet Explorer
InetOptions-->Connections-->Lan Settings-->"Look for Any Proxy server entries" .If yes then try without the proxy server or ask your IT Admins if a firewall/Proxy exists .

Thanks for your replies as it seems the problem is with the different proxies. But I have another question that in case we have several hundreds of files ot be uplaoded, what would be the best way to do it as this import functionality times out?

Either go through the file system interface / Samba mount point - or tar/zip the files up - import the tar/zip file, and then go through the file system interface to expand the tar/zip file and remove it when done.

Currently the problem is that we have several users who will be importing this zip file but they do not have access on the server to unzip it. How can we achieve in this case.?

If that's one time deal, just unzip it for your users. If this sort of user activity is a permanent one you would
have to provide a Workflow or Custom Menu item for them to unzip.

I would seriously reconsider your design in this case though

How this "hundreds of files" per User were originated and what this amount of Data is doing on the user's desktops in the first place?
Besides, "Import" Java Applet is extremely poor choice to transport massive amount of Data.

Also we have several third party agencies uploading the content as per the various season that's why several files are edited and uploaded.

IWOV Open Deploy is the platform for efficient File/DB distribution.

As to external Data Feeds, keep your Clients lean and nimble. Upload to Servers (TS or not) and provide
your users with the Workflows to Edit/Promote/Deploy these assets.

Sorry Boris could not understand the lean and nimble thing which you mentioned?
The point is that the server is located in Europe and it is being accessed round the globe and thus it takes a lot of time to upload the files from the distant location. I hope you got my problem now.

Formal answer is 'No', OOTB there is no mechanism other than Import to Upload Files from the Client machine to TS Server. If it is feasible
in your circumstances you may want to reconsider your design and external Data Feeds topology so that you can use IWOV OpenDeploy or some such
mechanism to transport large amount of Data to TS Server(s)
