perl program to interact with DB

Hi guys ,

can u pls help in writing a perl program for accessing the DB,we have to first access a list of dcr's then parse that list and delete the dcr's present in that list thr DB access,

You can use perl DBI module to connect to the DB and perform whatever you are looking at. if you are connecting to an Oracle database - then the sample code would be something like:

use DBI;

# Establish DB Connection
# You dont' need to load DBD
# database: dscMetadata
my $dbConnection = DBI->connect('DBIracle:dscMetadata') or die "Connect error: " . DBI->errstr;

#if you want to supply uname/pwd here - use:
my $dbConnection = DBI->connect('DBIracle:dscMetadata', 'username', 'password')


#Form the sql query
my $query = $dbConnection->prepare(sqlQuery)
or die "PrepareStatement error" . $dbConnection->errstr;

my @data;

#execute the previously formed query
$query->execute() or die "Execute Error: " . $query->errstr;

#fetch each record from the result of query into data
while (@data = $query->fetchrow_array()) {
my $first_col = $data[1];
my $second_col = $data[2];
}

$query->finish;
