LDAP and OS Group ID Conflict

Hi ,

I am posting the query again , as this is regarding our Production Box. Any help would be of great importance.

The problem that we are facing is that we are using iplanet LDAP and TS6.1 on solaris 8,

On the TS server (Solaris Box) we have OS User IDs and on a Different M/c we have LDAP Installed. we are using LDAP for auth.

The uid of the LDAP User is conflicting with the UID of the OS User and this is of concern to us .
e.g.
LDAP username=prem
uid=123

OS User Name=Fish
ID=123

so when user prem is working on a file/DCR , the file/DCR gets locked by the name of FISH instead of prem.

we are still finding out what other issues this conflict could cause.

I suggest you change the UID of "Fish" (ahem) to be something that is not used in LDAP - or better, get rid of the local disk account for "Fish" and make it an LDAP account.
