WorkSite 8.2 web service

Hi,

I'm trying to call the WorkSite web service to search for documents but I'm getting an error saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and I've got no idea why. Trusted login is working fine.

Here's my code:-

IWOV.IWOVServices iwovweb = new IWOV.IWOVServices();
iwovweb.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
iwovweb.PreAuthenticate = true;

Have you recently created new FileShares ?If yes then make sure you've set appropriate permissions for access .
Not sure about the WebService but I got this error from the UI and it was resolved by Deleting the Admin Resource Page .

You'll probably get a better idea where is the source of the error if you were to step through your code to see which line of code throws it.

It's throwing the error in the web service call so I can't debug it. I'm assuming that I haven't set something up in the way the web service requires it but I damned if I know what it is! Better documentation from Interwoven would be a start.

Does the SearchDocuments call, for example, throw the error:

IWOV.SearchDocumentsOutput docResults = iwovweb.SearchDocuments(docSearch);

Most often, this would return an error result, returned by the output's Errors object, if the error was bubbled up from the internal implementation of the method. The array in the Errors object should give you more info. By do this:

if (docResults.Documents == null)
{
//Check errors
Error[] errs = docResults.Errors;

}

extending Off of your existing code, I was able to see the array inside the Error object resturns this for me:

Message = "[NRTSession ][SearchDocuments ]Full text index is unavailable at this time "

This, of course, is an example of a possible error. In my case, this error is thrown because my full text searching is not up and running. Yours could be different, but you should find out what the actual problem could be if you check the errors object.
