Read an external xml using javascript in the formapi

I have a requirement of populating the values in a dropdown2 depending upon the selection of dropdown1.And i have this dropdown1 and dropdown2 in the dcr as a replicant,as these are replicant i was not able to use the call server as this call server is working for only one replicant.The values for the dropdown are fetched from
a xml.So now iam trying to read the xml and store all the values in a array.and then populate according to the index.But when i load the dcr it is opening with a security warning and does nothing.
Anybody could help me in this issue.

OK, I *think* I understand what you are trying to do. I have done something similar, I make a select list (or many) , mark it hidden, and populate it with the data I need. Once I have that then it is easy to read the list and populate the data into the new replicant.

how could i invoke an xml in the location where my datacapture.cfg is present.i am invoking the xml path as //icmsdev1/default/main/Studentloan/WORKAREA/work/templatedata/Marketing/LEFT_NAV.is this correct way of invoking.please suggest me in this.

XML files are not "invoked" - they are read / processed by some other code or utility.

Without knowing how you are trying to implement this (code) - it's kind of difficult for anyone to tell you what you're doing wrong.

If i use the callserver i am not able to do as i have these dropdowns as replicants.So please suggest me how could i proceeed for this issue.

Callserver simply runs server side code to perform some processing (to parse an XML file or to query a DB or…). The results are then sent back to the form with JavaScript.

So, why are you unable to use callserver?

If you make the DCT use a perl callout, then it can read the XML file on startup and populate the hidden select list.
