DBD Error

Hi,

We get the below error when running a script to connect to DB.

install_driver(Oracle) failed: Can't load '/app/iw-home/iw-perl/site/lib/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so' for module DBD: Smiley Surprised racle: ld.so.1: DBtest.ipl: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open failed: No such file or directory at /app/iw-home/iw-perl/lib/DynaLoader.pm line 229.
at (eval 1) line 3
Compilation failed in require at (eval 1) line 3.
Perhaps a required shared library or dll isn't installed where expected
at ./DBtest.ipl line 18

When we set the "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" variable from command prompt, the script runs fine, but fails when set in the script.

Will any of you be able to explain why we get the error and a solution for the problem. Script attached.

You need to set the environment information within a BEGIN { ... }; block.

Your attached file is written in pseudo-code rather than actual code - so its pointless to try and figure out what's happening. Frankly though, even if it were actual code - unless I could spot a syntactical or logical error, I wouldn't be able to debug it because I'd need to be in the actual environment to do that - so you're probably going to have to play around with it a bit more to figure out what's what - compare the environment information available when running the script from the command line versus from wherever you're trying to run it - perhaps you missed one of the environment variables or made a typo in the settings?

ummm ... Does _64 imply that you've got 64bit libraries?
AFAIK, supplied iwperl/perl is 32 bit

UGH - I suggest you learn how to program in Perl. Here's a freebie for you:

print "This is a test message:\n$ENV{LD_LIBRARY_PATH}\n";[/.code] Beyond that, yeah, you might be running into problems trying to use 64-bit libraries with a 32-bit application - you should probably see if you can get the 32-bit Oracle libraries installed on your server - and you may have to rebuild the DBD when you do.
