multiple groups for a branch

Hi,
I want to know whether we can modify group ownership of a branch/workarea from one(For Eg. A) to two (A,

groups?
Requirement is that some people need to have read and write access to the workarea and some should have only read access.
Or is there any better way of implementing this?

Owner can not be multiple that would be single only. Regarding permissions you can set the permissions on folder bases by going to the backend y:/default...

but it doesnt allow to apply to folder 'WORKAREA'.
do u have any idea, how do we apply to that folder?

Ownership of branch/workarea can not be given to multiple groups.

Requirement is that some people need to have read and write access to the workarea and some should have only read access.
Or is there any better way of implementing this?

What i could think of ... is in TS we have called as tsgroups, where you can virtually combine two or more OS groups and assign that TS group as owner of branch/workarea.

For more information find tsgroups.xml in Admin manual.

Hi Amit,

Folder Workarea cannot have its permissions changed. But if you go deeper to the workarea itself, you will be able to set permissions. your path shall be something like Y:\default\main\yourbranchname\WORKAREA\your workarea name.

Try to work on the folders inside "WORKAREA". For example if you have a default workflow named "default" try to set permissions for that. Hope it works..

The best way is to set a common group as the WA owner and start assigning granular permissions for folders under the WA. It's less maintenance overhead and also a better way to organize your system.

After posting, I have done it same way pradeep has described. But there is a question on it. It works fine, as far as groups are working under different folders under workarea(For ex. wa). But, in a scenario, where a group directly works on wa folder, it will give access to all and we are back to the same road.
As, kaalraa mentioned, we can have tsgroup with multiple OS group. But is there any way we can set permissions to that OS group in tsgroups.xm?

With my knowledge, 6.5 doesn't support that granular level of permissions. 6.7.1 can do that with the help of flexroles.

No, permission could not be set on OS group with tsgroups.xml.
