iwtmp file

Hi,

I have a OpenDeploy 6.02(Sender-Solaris) and OpenDeploy 6.1.1(target-Windows), some files (like 1 Mb or big file) get deployed to target server first show .iwtmp and then .iwtmp get disappeared and show the right so it means OpenDeploy creates the temporary file on target server and then remove those temporary file when deployment get finished.
In my case I don't want, OpenDeploy creates temporary file(iwtmp),so in order to do that I set non-transactional deployment and have no parameter set on transferRules except doDeletes option but still get iwtmp file for a while on target server.
Could you plz tell me how to get rid off iwtmp file on target server during the deployment

I believe this is how OD deploys a file.

In order to transfer a file say abc.txt which is of say 2MB, OD starts off with the file abc.txt.iwtmp on the target server. Once the whole of file abc.txt.iwtmp has been transferred, it renames the file to the original abc.txt.

This must have been done to maintain the integrity of the file(and not to make the deployment transactional). Otherwise user could end up with an incomplete file without noticing it in case the deployment abruptly stops due to some reason.

I don't think we can get rid of the iwtmp file getting created. But I don't see how can it be a problem, the file is temporary anyway.

This is basically correct.
For non-transactional deployments - each file is transferred as filename.iwtmp and then renamed without the extra extension
For transactional deployments - all pre-existing files are copied to filename.iwold, all files are transferred as filename.iwnew, and once they have all been transferred successfully, the .iwnew files are renamed into place; once that is successful, the .iwold files are removed.

You cannot omit these steps (nor should you want to) - but you can configure OD to use a different directory for the temporary files.

Actually during the deployment some files get deployed to the target server and due to network problem or some other deployment get failed in that case file with iwtmp extension is lying on the target server so in order to avoid this situation, I want either iwtmp won't create or create in other directory.

I changed transientDirectory so all temp files will go there.
