importing a file through WF

I have a situation where I need to import a .txt file into TeamSite and then deploy it through OpenDeploy. In my external task *.ipl file, how can I import the file so that it's available for OpenDeploy? Is there a commandline tool that can be used or is there some other way to handle this situation. The *.txt file is created in the previous task to the deploy task.

Import it and attach it to the workflow with

my ($task) = new TeamSite::WFtask($task_id);

$task->AddFile($filename, "Comment');

Then use OD to do a filelist deploy

You need to do both. Copy it into the workarea and then attach it.

If this perl script is creating the file, then have it create the file in the workarea.

You will probably want to so some error checking (like if the file exists or is in a workflow or locked already)

File::Copy is much bettter than cp if you are Unix copy if you are on DOS

but you could use those as well

Note that as long as TSServer is running IW Store is exposed to the Server OS as a mounted Drive.
(In some documents IWOV calls that stuff "smart file system" - with their characteristic modesty).
Among other things it means that your Workarea is just a Folder and can be accessed as such.

You are on Windows, so chances are it's something like Y:/default/main/YourBranchPath/WORKAREA/YourWAName...
As long as you (your process) have proper access credentials you can read/write/copy and whatnot there just
like in any other Server Folder

I have a question - Through ContentCenter, I can copy a file using my logged in id - but when I run the workflow, the copy command is throwing a Permission denied error - how can I give the process, like my id, access to the directory in the workarea??

In the WFT (I am assuming this is a WFT, not a WFM) you designate the task owner. That is who the external task should be running as.
