RAM Requirements??

Hi,
Is there any documentation which clearly states the MINIMUM RAM requirements for a TeamSite installation. I was not able to get it in the Release Notes for TS 6.7.1

Our Network group is a little stingy and needs a document to support my demand for a lousy 2GIG's of RAM. :mad:

Installation Prerequisites, Memory.
M = (number of CPUs * 1 GB) + (cache size setting * 4 KB) + (total number of concurrent users * 4.6 MB)

FYI, 2GB is by far the bare minimum. My servers are 4GB for the dev server and 8 GB for the prod server. Even with what the manual says, I up that significantly.

You also do not define a TS install, just TS ? Search ? OD ? Tagger ?

Andy I am trying out a vanilla installation of 6.7.1 to see how it goes. but i guess you are right... I should consider the other components beforehand as well.

For simple development I generally have TeamSite server sitting in a Win2k3 vmware session with 1.5 GB of assigned ram, and it works fine. I have run it with as low as 1 GB of ram, and it worked fine for my testing purposes, the only issue I ran in to was that make_toolkit.ipl would take a little longer than normal to run.

If they only want to give you 1 GB of ram to test, then that isn't the end of the world. (Yes 2GB is better). However, make sure they realize you will need a lot more to run the live server. Look at it this way - RAM is so cheap right now, after you pay for your development + TeamSite license + server costs... another 4 or 8GB of ram is a very insignificant price difference.

That is surprising, my system was crashing with only 1 GM of RAM trying to run a VMWare instance of TS>

I am running TS 6.7.1 on windows 2003 EE and Red Hat Linux with 512 mb of ram (no search or opendeploy or event subsystem or database server) without a problem.

Andy, are you running everything on the same box?

Yea I have the full suite, but it was dying without search (but I did have SQL server with MediaBin).
