iwevents CLT not retrieving earlier dates

Hi -

I'm trying to get data from TS by using the iwevents.exe command line tool. We've had TS installed since February and have been very active in the system. When I run the iwevents.exe command, it only retrieves back as far as July 23rd 2007. Does anyone know why this would occur? I need data from the beginning of July.

We are running TS 6.7.1 on Windows 2000 Server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Now I *think* iwevents parses the iwevents.log

So are you cycling that ? Can you check & see if it has information from before late July ?

That's the first thing I thought too... However, the iwevents.log WAS cycled on Aug 06. The iwevents command is returning data from July 23rd onwards. I found a note that says the following regarding the source of iwevents

"Though the entries are same, but the CLT does not read iwevents.log but rather talks to server to get the details. This can be verified by deleting the log file and then issueing the CLT and get the same results. Backing store has all the information for the submits (and other events) happening in TeamSite.".

So it seems to be acting as expected, but only retrieving as far back as July 23rd.... Any other ideas?

Which switch did you use? -s or -u . Each switch might return you different dates?

The date it goes back to is dependant on the workarea that I'm trying to get data from. For the particular workarea I'm trying to get data from, for -s it returns data from July 24th and later, and for -u it returns data from July 23rd and later. I'm a little perplexed by this issue....?

Have you tried running it from the staging area?

Hi,

iwevents.exe does not parse the events.log, we rotate out ievents.log periodically, but the result of iwevents.exe is unaffected of this...

So, that's what we found out:
- The result of iwevents.exe [-s|-u] is the same as if you choose the CCPro menues View -> [View submit log|View update log]
- if you start iwevents -s \store\main\branch\ed_0002 you'll get all submit events which were done from the publishing time from ed_0001 to ed_0002
- if you start iwevents -s \store\main\branch\STAGING you'll get the submit events which were done from the publishing time from ed_0002 up to now
- if you start iwevents -s \store\main\branch\WORKAREA\wa1 you'll get the last 64 submit events.

Perhaps, someone can confirm that...
