HTTP 500 - Internal server error during DCR preview

Hi
Using TS 6.5 Win 2K SP4.

When I try to preview a DCR I get following error

The page cannot be displayed

There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer

plz let me know why ths is happening & how to solve it?

Well make sure you have a WebServer defined in iw.cfg and if its IIS on the same Box then ensure that its up and running .

m also check out the IIS as folollowing path--
ControlPanel->Administrative Tools->Services->IIS Admin Service
it shows the status as "Started".

evrything is fine as u expln..
m still not getting the DCR preview!!
whts else wrong gng on...?

Make sure IIS is configured to listen on port 81 (as opposed to its default of 80)
Make sure IIS is configured to use TSIMP_hostname instead of the default IUSR_hostname userid for anonymous access

yaa i can preview fine when i create any file on TS_Server & just click on it, it shows whatever it contains in well format.

i can preview this page manually by browsing the above path...

I think this then becomes an iw.cfg / iwproxy configuration issue - you may have to run iwproxy in debug mode to see what it's actually trying to do when you try to preview a DCR - either that, or remove the setting in iw.cfg that sets the preview directory to "/preview" (and restart iwproxy)

Or it is a problem with the TPL.

Make your TPL a simple TPL (i.e. just say hi and let it return)

What type of fiel are you generating ? .HTML ?

check your webserver log file and see what is the message in it. Are you using any include files in your DCR? if so make sure how you written your file reference.

If this doen't help explain us the exactly what you did. This will help us narrow down the problem.

<template name="template_name.tpl" extension="htm">

its not working...

Well - that would seem to indicate either (a) you were trying to generate .html files when templating.cfg said you needed to generate .htm files, (b) that your customer web server was configured to render .html files and not .htm files, or (c) some other aspect of the page rendering was tied to the extension being .html and not .htm (e.g.: asp or jsp or php processing)

As Adam stated this narrows your problem significantly.

Have it generate a HTML, copy it to .htm and try to view each inside TS.

Are you using server side inculdes ?

Are there any proxy settings for .htm ?

m unable to view .htm extension file inside TS.

i have changes my templating.cfg file for our solution as i stated in the post reply...
