Workflow Task Ownership Question

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible for another user, say an Administrator, to take ownership of a user's task in a workflow.

Yes you can , explain more about the scenario in which you wanted to do this?

Gives us the flow of your WF and where you are expecting the Admin to take owner ship at?

That being said, master is a role that should be kept very closely guarded. This shiould not be a lot of people.

As Andy said, as a master one can do this at any point of time. But you are talking to implement this in "a given workflow" people generally in Interwoven would create a "Group task" which will cater to your needs, even when one person is gone the other person in that group can approve the content and push it to prod. But if you are thinking to "generalize it" to an extent that you want a person/entity to do that for N number of workflows no matter how easy or complicated they are the only person who can do that is **** ( Master Role User)

Making the users Masters would be a horrid idea. Don't even think of it.

What you can do is make the tasks a group task instead of a user task. Thus you, me or Lilley can take it. Now you can set it up so that 1 person ( the primary) gets the email notification. They would be the one who normally handles the request. However if that person is off, anyone in the list can take it.

Now if a person takes it, a Master would be required to push the task (or take it back I believe). If your users only take a job theya re about to work on, then you are good to go.

Finally, I have written a vacation setting to the workflow. This allows the workflow to read a file and set the reviewer to a backup if the primary is on vacation.

I believe an Administrator - at least one who owns the branch in which the workflow is running, should be able to modify task attributes which should include the owner of the task.
