how to put restriction in browse field from manual entry

I'm using a browser element in my DCT.Now how to restrict the user from entering data manually i.e. s/he should be able to fill up that filed only by navigating using the browse button.

I thought about a regex-validation, but that would be limited in what you can do. I think the coding would be a better choice.

Thanks Boris, i've configured your code according to my need..But now I am stucked at one point.While clicking "OK" after selecting a file in the popup window it is giving a JS error.While trying to debug it using firefox, it is showing

"Error: opener.parent.getScriptFrame().BrowseCallBack is not a function

So, what is it? BrowseCallBack or doBrowseCallBack? It's your own Function, you can name it any way
you wish. Just make sure that Function call in the "hier_callback" matches declaration exactly, JS is case-sensitive.

Other than that I can not say much without looking at your code

If you want some help with it, sure. Btw, does it work with IE ( in other words, are you fighting portability battle)?
Have you tried the original sample without changes? Did it work?

In answer to the question of the name of the function - you defined a function call doBrowseCallback - so that's the name you have to reference (as ISCBorisB already indicated)

Maybe it's just me - but why are you defining all your functions within initi(){...} - I believe your init function should just be:

and then the rest of the functions can be defined below (or above) it, but not inside it.

Fish is spot on! The only Function you've declared under ScriptFrame is init().

The rest are init's nested ( "local" ) functions, in JS they exist only when the outer one is run (eg, you can NOT for example call init.doSomething).
So, opener.parent.getScriptFrame().doBrowseCallBack fails because there is no doBrowseCallBack in the SciptFrame Namespace.

Sure, why not. A parameter is 'filename_filter_regex'. Add something like the following to your "browse_for_link" URL and play with it:
...
&filename_filter_regex=\.(gif|jpg|bmp)$
...

Hi Boris,

Thanks for your code sample which I could successfully use to get my requirement done.But now there is one issue detected in testing.It goes like this-

When I click the "Browse" button, it opens up a popup window for me, where I can browse and then select my reqired file and on clicking "OK", the selected value gets populated in my DCR form. Now in that popup window, if I type some non existing name in the "File name" field, an error message gets displayed on top saying "...(typed name) does not exist and I cannot esacpe that popup.This is okay and exactly what is required.

The problem is when I type something like "a/b" in the "File name" field.Although it shows the error message on the top like "Does not exist: //seukbiwts01/default/main/branch/Subbranch/WORKAREA/default/a/b", on clicking "OK", the value gets populated in the DCR. This fails the whole purpose of putting this validation.

Would really appreciate if you can provide some help on this.

Please remember that all this jazz is a hacked API to the proprietary Interwoven widget. It has never been exposed to the
TS Developers. There is no documentation and no support. Sure, you can try to hack it deeper still to see if you can bent
and twist the Widget to your liking.

Short of that, you still can try couple things:
- Use callServer from (already custom) 'hier_callback' to perform any additional Server-side validation.

- Encapsulate 'browse_for_link' Widget into your own CGI and augment Widget's functions from there. Your DCT then will call that custom CGI

- Play with one more parameter: &show_add_remove=true. That's the whole new can of worms though. Granted, it won't
allow to attach non-existing assets but... It is more complex interface that you probably do not need and your users
will be able to add many Files in one shot, etc

- If it is that important, write your own CGI Browser, you can find plenty of required JS code on the Net.
