converting a teamsite 5.5 DCT to 6.5

I am not sure if this an opendeploy or a teamsite question, so bare with me!

I have some DCTs which work on a teamsite 5.5 install. I need to convert them to work on teamsite 6.5

Looking at the DCT it does not look like it will work out of the box, the syntax is different. I have no experience with 5.5, by the way.

Do you guys know anything from the top of your heads that would not work in 6.5 the way it did in 5.5 ?

First thing you need to do whenever you get a situation like this is to compare the dtd's for botht the versions, then you will see the differences and will have a better idea as what changed in the versions.

backward compatibility is always there in all versions of TS. I feel your DCT would work as it is. When you configure your DCT in templating.cfg, make sure to use dcr-type="iwov" and your DCTs should work well with 6.5

You should be in good shape. 5.5 DCR are still supported. 6.5 offers more benefits, but the old stuff will work. IIRC, you will see that the examples provided are all (or at least many) in the old style.

That's wishful thinking. There are plenty of exotics that has not been maintained between versions.

For example, between 5.5 and 6.1(6.0?) <symbol-table> seems to disappear completely, <itemref> has been modified
in a manner that is NOT backward compatible, etc... The end result is that almost any DCT created in the 5.5 with the
use of "iwdtd2sym" utility is not compatible with 6.x.

If Koryakm has any of that, DCTs must be reverse-engineered and mapped to 6.x syntax manually.
