Preview DCR / Web Pages, which using Perl DB

Hi ,

We are using one DCT called PresRelease .(DCT generating an html page)
This DCT also using perl DB to Insert /Update the SQL Database .
The values updated thought the DCT , Which is stored in the database is using
another five PHP web pages . The generated HTML page name
( DCR name and Generated html page name are same) is also stored in the database

1) The user want to preview the DCT as well as the updated web pages from TS
Preview or from their Testing Server.
2) When the user kick off the WorkFlow , The generated page should copied from
TS Server to the Staging ,then to production.

“How to implement the above requirement ?”

you design a workflow to do this, code it and test/debug.

What part of this are you having trouble with ? This is all implementable with the normal parts of TeamSite and some coding.

If you think someone will write a design document for you, don't count on it. If you have trouble implementing a certain aspect of this project, then post what you are trying to do and what you have already done and someone will likely help you.

Logic as follows

1.User will create the DCR , Save it .

2.Then the user kick off work flow ,

(The work flow will generate the html pages to team site as wells a

the testing server)

3.Then the user preview the dcr , Which will point to an intermediate page

4.This intermediate page have the option to preview the generated html page

from the testing server as well as the updated pages from the testing server.

Once the preview is completed by the author , He will Kick off the approval work flow

The email received by the approver will simply clicks on the preview bottom in the email

to see the preview .

I am looking for some better approaches /ideas/issues to implement this.

These are questions you really need to bring up with your customer more than with DevNet as they are the users.

Some things are not fixed with more technology.

That being said, if I were in your shoes I would get the users in a room and walk through the proposed workflow (and other options) in great detail. Then I would try to knock out a prototype asap. Something like this will likely change significantly before the project is complete.

So you have a couple of choices. The 1st is a complete WF solution. User edits and saves a DCR, preview shows what it can (generated HTML but not the DB updates). Invoke WF. which deploys to test server. Same user then checks test server and if happy continues the WF.

The other option is to do more in the TPL. You can kick off a whole lot of stuff in a TPL (OpenDeploy, DB deploy) and redirect to the test server when it is successful. Then the WF can go straight to the review.

#2 is more complex to code but easier for the users.
