Anyone use TeamSite Templates for ASP.NET Creation?

We currently generate CLASSIC Asp (yack!!) and are looking to start generating ASP.NET pages using TeamSite Templates.

Are there any guides out there on doing this? Anyone have experience with this? Any pitfalls to watch out for?

I am thinking of going and bulding the target ASP.net pages first and then have the templates generate the text I need to drive those pages...Is it that simple?

Yea I am doing it. Not fun but I have a pretty solid implementation. There is a KB that you can get from support (49749) that will help.

That helps render foo.html renamed to foo.aspx. After that you have your project specific implementations. Those can be very significant.

A lot depends on what is being managed. Part of our site is content developed aspx files (for the most part flat html, named aspx) That is easy. Another part are pages controlled by dev that load content controls (ascx pages) that is more problematic.

Yea, to start I am thinking about making a "base-page" template for a simple aspx page and then making one "template per widget" for that page - each of these widgets will be an ASP.NET User Control (.ascx)

So the user authors his wigets, and then creates his base-page and that base-page will import the wigets they want rendered.

Think this will work?

It does not appear to be in the techlib for DevNet. You will need to call support on it.

BTW, I wrote an article that is in TechLib that talks about preview in the DotNet environment (when you use ASPX and ASCX pages together) you may want to search for that. I put it up in June, so it should not be too hard to find.

we are also trying to figure out a best practice for this - is it better to use TeamSite to publish XML and database assets and have the .NET layer consume them somehow? currently we are trying to generate all the aspx and ascx pages within teamsite via PERL, which i am not keen on. i would really appreciate any thoughts/opinions on ASP.NET integrations. thanks!
