While this subject is covered in the more recent Supported Environment documents, it is worth highlighting here.
We testing against Oracle we only test a specific group of character sets. The result of this is that we only directly support same set of character sets. We have hsitorically seen abberent behaviour from the Metastorm BPM Engine occasionally when other character sets are used.
Following are the tested and support character set and version combinations:
Oracle 10G R1
Non-Unicode databases:
• Western European database (including American) Database Character Set: Western European WE8MSWIN1252
• Central European database Database Character Set: Eastern European EE8MSWIN1250
Unicode databases:
• Arabic and Kanji characters Database Character Set: Unicode standard UTF-8 AL32UTF8
Oracle 10G R2
Non-Unicode databases:
• Western European database (including American) Database Character Set: Western European WE8MSWIN1252
with National Character Set: AL16UTF16 – Unicode UTF-16 Universal Character set
• Central European database Database Character Set: Eastern European EE8MSWIN1250
