calendar cgi

I have a calendar callout in my DCT which works fine in windows but when I port it to solaris it doesn't work. I have tried multiple things -
* calling it from a folder within iw-bin => iw-bin/custom
* placing it directly within iw-bin
* calling it through iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi
* calling it without wrapper
* renaming ipl to cgi and calling Calendar.cgi or calling ipl directly

Here is my callout code -
<callout url="/iw-bin/Calendar.ipl" label="Calendar" window-features="width=200,height=230,resizable=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=no,titlebar=no"/>

Here is my file permission on Calendar cgi -

Here is the error dump from iw-home/local/logs/iwui/error.log

Ah, the good old Robert's Calendar...

1. Use CGI format without wrapper
<callout url="/iw-bin/Calendar.cgi" label="Calendar" window-features="width=200,height=230,resizable=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=no,titlebar=no"/>

2. Make sure that your CGI code perl shebang is correct and points to iwperl. Correct if needed.

3. After correcting shebang get to your shell command line mode and try to execute Calendar.cgi directly from there.
What does it print into STDOUT?

Thanks for your response. I have tried calling Calendar.cgi after renaming ipl to cgi and that also doesn't work. I have also corrected the shebang and it points to the correct location of iwperl.

Also it executes from the command mode. What else can be missing in here.

What is the exact shebang syntax?

What was the exact command you used to test from the command Line mode?
Note that you should not use iwperl in this sort of *sanity check*, eg you have to execute CGI Directly and see if shebang works

Yes - ^M's on the shebang line can make a difference - get rid of it.
You should also modify the editor your using to always use Unix EOL characters - the only thing that won't be able to grok it is stupid editors like notepad (wordpad a.k.a. write.exe has no problems with Unix EOLs - but I'd still recommend a better editor)

If your server is Unix - you can also use the clt dos2unix to fix the EOL chars.

Absolutely. That ^M is exactly your problem. You've probably copied perl code from Windows in a binary mode.
As a result, Windows End-of-Line <CR><LF> (0x0D0A) went as is. In Unix though EOL is just <LF>, and
<CR> is shown as ^M. Shebang will NOT work with it.

You may want to delete it manually and try again, problem is that you probably have plenty more of those.
Depending on what exactly is your Unix flavor you may try 'flip' or 'dos2unix' Utilities or 'awk' or tiny Perl
script (or whatever is your fancy) to clean up your cgi code

Thanks for the feedback. I removed to those characters and CGI callout now works. Somehow my Calendar is not getting loaded properly in 6.7.1 in solaris. This works fine in 6.7.1 under windows. Can it be related to some missing js or css. I've taken the standard calendar ipl from the support site - https://support.interwoven.com/kb/kb_show_article2.asp?ArticleID=48813

Is there a difference for Mozilla as opposed to IE ?

You may need to put some debug statements in the CGI and dump the info to a log file.

I don't know, but I've recently downloaded and used JSCalendar-1.0 for use in a DCT and it seems to work reasonably well (under both Firefox and IE)
Pretty easy to setup too - though I could figure out how to get it to work for onClick events, so I just created a callout button to launch a small CGI script with the calendar embedded in it.

Alternatively, you can use IWOV TS Calendar for the price of a dozen FormAPI code lines and nothing more.
Downside is that it's an undocumented hack

Have you downloaded and looked at the documentation for JSCalendar?
If not - then do so, and spend some time with it first.

A callout in the DCT is standard DCT development work - having it call a CGI script is basic - and then code the CGI script to utilize JSCalendar is not that difficult.

If you have trouble doing that - post the code you're trying to use and explain what you are / are not seeing and the environment in which you are experiencing your issues.
