Issue
- How do I connect to a Knowledge Exchange (KE) repository when using ProVision?
Resolution
On the ProVision menu bar, select Repository and then Connect.
Select A server-based repository and click next.
Click Add Server.
Settings (Verify the proper settings with a user who has successfully connected or your KE administrator.)
- Local Name: A user can choose how the server name is displayed in ProVision.
- Address: This is the DNS name or server name of the KE server.
- Port: This derives from the application or web server being used. The default is port 80.
- Enable SSL: Enable this if you are using Secure Sockets Layer. Typically, if this is enabled, the KE Webvision address will begin with https.
- Log in to this server automatically: Your login credentials are remembered for future logins.
- Enable data compression: If using Websphere, this must be turned off.
- Ping: After entering the server details, click ping to test the connection. If this fails, ensure the correct server details are entered. If successful, click OK.
After the correct settings are in place, you will see the new server listed in Step 2 of the connection wizard. You can highlight the server itself (thus selecting all user repositories) or expand the server and select individual repositories. Click next to continue.
Step 3 of the wizard allows you to confirm your choice by selecting Finish. You will receive a confirmation after successful connection, and the repository will now be available in ProVision's repository inventory.
